Tuxedo Tips from Fabian Couture
Tuxedo
Shirt Tips:
When wearing a suit the sleeves should show a full half inch
below the sleeves of the tuxedo. If the cuff recedes behind the
wrist
when the arm is bent the sleeve is too short. A proper size sleeve
will allow the arm to be in any position without having the cuff
withdraw under the jacket sleeve. The cuff itself should fit
snuggly enough to hold its place on the wrist without appearing
too tight.
Our shirts are styles with two types of cuffs: Barrel cuffs and
French cuffs. The Barrel cuffs are common among dress shirts and
are fastened with buttons. The French cuffs are more dressy, therefore
traditional for the tuxedo and require cuff links.
The neck band should never choke or chafe nor should the body
of the shirt bind a man's torso. the neck band should have an air
space of one quarter inch which allows the head to turn without
chafing the neck. If the neck band is too tight it will spread
the collar creating too large a tie space. This is not only uncomfortable
but gives the wearer a sloppy appearance.
Tips for the Groom:
Bring dress socks for your final fitting so you can properly try on your
shoes. Bring a swatch of the bridesmaid's dress if you plan on
matching the vest or cummerbun. Know if your bride is wearing white
or off-white or ivory. This will determine the color of the shirt
or the tuxedo.
What if some of the groomsmen are from out of town?
The wedding specialist will supply a complimentary measurement card in
which the out-of-town groomsmen can take to his local tuxedo store
and have his measurements taken. Most facilities will give a complimentary
measurement
for an out-of-town measurement. These measurements can be faxed,
phoned or mailed in to your tuxedo shop.
